Kristen's jealous boyfriend STEPS IN

Since Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson first arrived on the Vancouver, British Columbia, set of the Twilight sequel, New Moon, reports of the co-stars getting cozy between takes and holding hands during trips to the supermarket have circulated. But their flirtation recently came to an abrupt end.

With news that Kristen's boyfriend of three years, Micheal Angarano, was coming to visit in late April, 23-years-old Rob conveniently hopped a flight to LA. The departure presumably suited Micheal, who's had to cope with constant speculation about Kristen and Rob's relationship, just fine. « He's totally not a threatened guy, » says Kristen, 19. « But, dude, it sucks. »

The situation's difficult for Micheal, 21, to handle because he knows how easy it is to fall for a co-star: He and Kristen met filming 2004's Speak but didn't begin dating until 2006. « He's older than me, » Kristen notes. « When you're 13 and he's turning 16, it was always sort of an out-of-reach thing »

But now that Kristen's star has risen, Micheal, who's best known for his role as Jack McFarland's son Elliot on Will & Grace, may find that he's the one chasing her. He's already traveled to Vancouver twice for the New Moon shoot. Micheal arrived in late March, leaving just before Kristen's birthday on April 9 before returning a couple weeks later. « Micheal is always around » notes an insider. « He knows Robert is hot for Kristen, and he doesn't want Rob moving in. Micheal's very possesive. »

And even though Rob was out of town during Micheal's latest trip, Kristen's beau worked extra hard to get her alone. He reportedly booked a room at a separate hotel from Sutton Place, where Kristen and the rest of the cast are staying, so that they could have more pivacy. On April 25, the couple enjoyed a PDA-filled outing, where Kristin was spotted getting a piggyback ride from her boyfriend perhaps in an effort to put the Robert rumors to rest.

  Rob's brooding bad-boy style is rubbing off on Micheal, according off on Micheal, according to an insider at Glowbal restaurant in Vacouvert on April 8. « It was crazy how much Micheal looked like him, » says the insider. « With all the speculation circulting about Robert and Kristen, it's no wonder Micheal is changing his look for her. »

« Kristen and Rob have great chemistry, » Ahsley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen, told Life & Style at Kiston's For Joseph Spring / Summer launch on April 30 in LA. « They do a fantastic job of portraying this couple that's madly in love. I think people just want it to be real. As far as I know, they're just friends. »

Ashley's on-screen brother, Kellan Lutz ( Emmett Cullen ), says that Kristen and Rob's steamy connection shouldn't make Micheal jealous. « That's where trust and love come in, » he tells Life & Style. « Kristen and Micheal are both successful acteur. They understand what you nedd to do. When the camara is on, you're back t being normal Micheal and Kristen. »

Still, Robert seems to have sensed that the return of Kristen's boyfriend could mean trouble. « Rob needed to get away from the craziness of Vancouver and perhaps the drama that would've ensued with Micheal in town, » notes a second insider. « It's just easier for him to get away. »
